2017 School Board Elections

Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 will have 4 school board seats to be filled at the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2021.

District 200 encompasses all of Dorr Township as well as portions of Greenwood, Hartland, Seneca, McHenry and Nunda Townships. Representation on the District 200 Board of Education is limited to no more than three members from the same township.

Candidates for school board positions can circulate nominating petitions for signatures as of Tuesday, September 20, 2016.  The period for filing nominating papers runs from December 12 through December 19, 2016.

Unlike previous years, changes in the state election laws have moved the responsibility of school board elections from the local board secretary.  Those duties are now handled by the County Clerk.  Prospective candidates should contact the Office of the McHenry County Clerk at 2200 Seminary Avenue, Woodstock (815-334-4242) or see the County’s website at: https://www.co.mchenry.il.us/county-government/departments-a-i/county-clerk/elections/candidate-services.

Candidates may also want to consult the 2017 Candidate’s Guide, which can be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website at: http://www.elections.il.gov/Downloads/ElectionInformation/PDF/2017CanGuide.pdf.
